I've been climbing for close to 8 years now and its wild seeing all these youtubers I've been watching for years now get into the sport, its really cool to see!
What's cool is seeing how much it consumes their lives lmao. It happens to all of us but most of us don't document our lives for RUclips so it's funny seeing Mike Boyd, for example, go from posting a video of him trying out climbing in the gym and the next thing you know a couple months later he's climbing a random multipitch in Norway with Pete Whittaker, leading pitches and placing gear and the whole nine, like holy shit that escalated quickly lmfao! I've actually never watched a Pewdiepie video before, at least that I can recall, but obviously I know who he is. I randomly saw people mention he made a video about climbing and this just popped up on my feed. Pretty cool honestly.
Dayum, seeing big youtubers who I looked up to as kid try out my sport is really heartwarming. I also like the social aspect of climbing where you cheer for each other to really push them to the max. Its also good to see that people treated you like a fellow sportsman and not as some special youtuber. cheers

Bouldering is actually the most W sport for introverts - you can just ignore everybody and climb if that's what you want, but then if you actually feel like socializing everyone is super chill and supportive. It's just good vibes all around (plus you get ripped, which is a sick bonus).

The climbing community is the real deal. I'm sure there's more than one exception out there, but I've never had a single stranger in the climbing gym jeer at me while working on a project. It's a space where others want to see your success...sometimes even more than you do in the moment.
Agreed, but I will say the new and young generation of climbing school kids are extremely cocky lmao, they are different then the other generations
@@Isariu11 Because other generations didn't have things like the World Cup or Olympics to aim for. Older generations treated slapping rock as a cult-like lifestyle. Newer generations are taking the sport to higher levels and that's a good thing, to be honest, their confidence is needed die to the competition involved amongst the higher levels.
Climbing is a sport that tiers well for beginners and athletes.
@@UkSapyy I agree with what you said, but the different that I’m talking about is not the 2000s vs the 70s,80s. I’m talking about the kids in the last 3/4 years vs the past 15-20. I think it might have to do with social media a little and the boom of climbing during and after Covid. Rock climbing is one of the best sports in the world for all experience levels, it’s very welcoming. But there has been an addition of a new culture in The gyms, that is very hostile some times.
Most sporting communities are like this lol

Rock climbing absolutely changed my life. I’ve taken a hiatus from it but I always get the itch cause the community and sport itself is so therapeutic ❤
I've been climbing for close to 8 years now and its wild seeing all these youtubers I've been watching for years now get into the sport, its really cool to see!
whats ur hardest v difficultly climb
almost 10 years now aswell its so weird to see everyone just discovering the sport
used to climb a lil but a lot of spots were removed and replaced with restaurants , starting to see more pop up near me. Might get back to it
It’s crazy to see to me as well. I’ve been climbing for 2 years now, and seeing Pewds in a jap gym crushing like that is so sick.
Its also good to see that people treated you like a fellow sportsman and not as some special youtuber. cheers
